The most expensive cities of the world
Experts of The Economist Group organization have made a rating of the most expensive cities of the world. Eight settlements from first tens are in the Europe.
So, you should take more money if you are going to the capital of Norway, Oslo. The second, the third and the fours positions are occupied by Paris, Copenhagen and London. In first ten two Japanese cities Tokyo and Osaka are also included. The other cities, close the “list of champions” are Reykjavik (Iceland), Zurich (Switzerland), Frankfurt (Germany) and Helsinki (Finland).
It is possible to note Athens (55 place), Prague (also 55 place), Lisbon (59) and Warsaw (63) among other rather inexpensive cities.
New York is the most expensive US city -it is on 28th position; Chicago is on the 36th and Los Angeles is on 41st position.
Moscow bypasses the American cities on expensiveness of the prices, being on 26-th place, together with Amsterdam.
Tel Aviv, also as well as other cities of the Near-Eastern states, was not included into the list of 50 most expensive settlements.

Cannabis Cup Festival in Amsterdam
Every year Cannabis Cup Festival is being hold in Amsterdam. The Festival is devoted to marihuana and products from hemp. Amsterdam is known for the channels, area of red lanterns and the coffee houses coffee shops where there is a wide range of marihuana.
The liberal Dutch legislation in relation to “soft” drugs involves tens thousand fans from all over the world.
Every year in capital of the Netherlands from several thousand up to several tens thousand people are gathering for Cannabis Cup Festival.
During the Festival the best marihuana by the form, the best marihuana to taste, the best seeds, the best hashish, and the best manufacturer are to be defined. The special jury can spend only one day for no more than five tastings.
At festival it will be possible to see fashionable products from a hemp, hemp oil and cosmetics, decorations and hats from hemp.
People will gather in the evenings in club Melkweg where the live music will be played.
Of course, it is not a holiday not for everyone, but it is undoubtedly a part of modern Amsterdam’s life.

The number of victims of earthquake on Sumatra is still increasing
Earthquake 6,3 magnitude under the Richter scale has occurred on Tuesday at the western coast of island Sumatra in Indonesia. The epicenter was in 50-ty kilometers in the east form Padang city.
&0 people became the victims of today’s earthquake in the western part of island Sumatra. Such information was given by the secretary of the Ministry Cabinet of Indonesia in Djakarta.
Groups of the rescuers work in the zone of catastrophe, the first medical aid is rendered by local doctors and Red Cross and the Green Half Moon volunteers.
The authority representatives declare on the destructive consequences of this strongest earthquake which has happened on the Indonesian islands from the beginning of this year. For last two years tectonic cataclysms have carried away lives of more than 200 thousand Indonesian people.
Underground fluctuations were also significantly felt in Singapore, located in 430 kilometers from an epicenter, and also in Malaysia and number of office buildings in these countries have been evacuated.
In December, 2004 powerful earthquake at coast of Sumatra has provoked a tsunami as a result of which more than 230 thousand people, including 131 thousand inhabitants of Indonesian province Aceh, died.

Nine Russian air carriers will start up in the sky of the European Union only after they will correct their lacks
The European Union’s sky has been closed for nine Russian air carriers after they -within 2004-2006 -have received a plenty of remarks from checking of Eurocommission transport management. After consultations with Eurocommission, Rostransnadzor and Rosaviation have forbidden the fault airlines to fly to EU down to settlement of the received remarks. As Ministry of Transport of Russia informed, such measures have been taken to not put significant damage of Russia as to one of leading aviation powers and to raise safety of Russian air flights. Yesterday this interdiction was also declared by Eurocommission.
Henceforth the nine “forbidden” airlines should necessarily coordinate all the charter flights with Rosaviation. Separate flights in EU can be resolved in unusual cases and only at the strict safety control.
Besides yesterday the Minister of transport has informed, that Rosaviation is preparing instructions for passengers. These instructions contain passengers’ rights, behavior advices in case of occurrence of terrorist threat, and also phones, specified to “a hot line” for solving any emergency problems. These instructions are to be spread in all Russian airports. Rosaviation chief has told that now 183 airlines are registered in Russia, 25 of which provide almost 100 percent of all aviatransportations. During 2006 the domestic companies have served 38 million air passengers, that is for 8,5 percent more, than in 2005.
The penal Russian air carriers, forbidden to perform flights in the EU’s airspace are Aero Rent, Tatarstan, Atlant Soyuz, Aviakon Zitotrans, Centre Avia, Gazpromavia, Lukoil, Russkoe Nebo and Utair.

“Naked fitness” entices tourists to Holland
The so-called “naked fitness” is getting the increasing popularity in the world. Special sports clubs for fans, wishing to go in for sports without clothes, have been opened in the Dutch city of Heteren. The program developed for nudists, has caused interest not only in local residents: tourists from Germany, Belgium, the Great Britain and the USA, wishing to participate in such naked sport, come to Heteren.
Only the clients, who have reached the full age, can go info naked fitness. Each applicant will pass careful check which will allow protecting athletes from various distortions and sexually anxious people penetration into their numbers. The trainers spending employment by “naked fitness” will train the group of nudists dressed in sports suits.
It is necessary to note, that similar sports halls have already become popular in many countries. It is possible to see the naked men and the women assiduously stretching or rushing on a racetrack in hotels and resorts, intended only for nudists.

15 foreign tourists are kidnapped in Ethiopia
Today the SkyNews TV channel has informed that 15 foreign tourists - 10 Frenchmen and five citizens of the Great Britain have been kidnapped in the north of Ethiopia. It is marked, that a wife of director of the British Council in Ethiopia is among the kidnapped tourists.
The UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is studying the development of situation with great abduction. And the representative of French embassy in Ethiopia Dominic Gaultier has declared that the attempts to collect data on abduction are now being undertaken. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France Phillip Dust-Blazi has declared that under available information, some Europeans have been stolen in the north of Ethiopia. But at the present moment it is impossible to speak with confidence neither about their number, nor about a nationality of the kidnapped people even if many attributes force to think that there are Frenchmen among them.
The representatives of the Ethiopian authorities have informed that they are closely checking the data concerning the tourists and the communiqué will be promulgated later.
It is supposed, that the tourists made travel on four cars to hydrochloric mines, located in region Afar and have been kidnapped by the unknown persons near the Dalol city in 800 kilometers to northeast from Addis-Ababa. One of them could escape and, having reached other group of tourists, has phoned to authorities of the region and told about the incident.
The Afar region is considered as one of the most dangerous regions of Ethiopia because of gangsters and insurgents. In 1995 the Afar tribe has kidnapped nine Italian tourists. In two weeks the Italians have been released.

Thai police has detained the suspected in murder of Russian tourists
Today, on March, 1st, the police of Thailand have arrested 24-year old local man, suspected in murder of two Russian tourists on a beach, which has occurred on February, 24th. As The Nation informs, the suspected is a local resident - Anuchit Lamlert, living in Kaomaikaew district in Chon Buri province.
Earlier Anuchit Lamlert has been repeatedly detained for a robbery of foreigners. The police have declared, that after long interrogations he admitted the murder of two Russian women. Having committed a crime, he has left a beach on a motorcycle. The 24-year old suspected has left for other province, and has thrown out 9-milimeters pistol in bushes on the road.
The motives of murder are still not clear, but the police declare, that it was only a robbery though things of the killed women have left untouched.
Now the police searches for crimes by means of metal detector.
As it has been informed before, the bodies of two Russian tourists - 30-year old Tatiana Tsimfer and 25-year old Lyubov Svirkova, who lived in Kemerovo and have arrived to Thailand under the tourist visa, have been found in the morning on February, 24th on a beach in the Thai resort Pattaya city. The unknown killer has let out four bullets in women and has disappeared. For the last time Russian women were seen early in the morning in one of the Pattaya’s bars.

The happiest and most unfortunate countries
Having leaded the large-scale research, now the experts can name the European countries which inhabitants consider them happy and completely satisfied. According to statistics, 87 % of inhabitants of the European Union states consider them happy. However this parameter basically concerns to old EU members. A half of Bulgarians, on the contrary, feel unfortunate, and sociologists have registered the highest number of suicides in Baltic countries.
According to the poll, lead in the EU countries under the Eurocommission’s order, the happiest people are the Danes - 97 % inhabitants of the Denmark feel good and comfortable. At the population of the countries which became EU members 3 years ago, have other moods. So, 55 % of Bulgarian citizens have named them unfortunate.
Lithuanians, Greeks and Romanians, and rarely - Dutchs and Finns suffer from stress.
By the way, according to the Eurostat statistical bureau data also confirm the fact of decadent moods among the population of the new EU members. According to Eurostat information, the highest level of suicides is observed in Baltic countries.
The highest level of suicides among Europeans is noted in Lithuania - 71 cases per 100 thousand people. Latvia on this parameter is on the second place - 45 suicides, and Estonia (44 suicides) is on the third place. Among women most of all suicides are made by the inhabitants of Lithuania (14 per 100 thousand women), Slovenia (13) and Hungary (10).
The happiest women live on Chyprus, in Greece, Italy and Spain. Probably, it can be explained by the role of a soft Mediterranean climate and the bright southern nature.
Besides, Eurostat has named the most prospering areas of the European Union. The list of the richest regions is headed by the “internal London” (without taking into account vicinities). The second place is occupied by the Great duchy Luxembourg, Bruxelles is on the third. Here sociologists have fixed the highest level of a total regional product per capita.

Some more countries will forbid liquids in planes
Since March, 1st some more countries are enter essential restrictions on transportation of liquids in hand luggage for air passengers. Adopted by the European Union and Northern America norms in 2006, since spring 2007 will extend on the flights from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Egypt. Since March, 31st the same rules will come in force in Australia and New Zealand.
These rules interdiction any liquids, drinks, gels, creams in hand luggage. Exceptions are made for: children’s feed - provided that the passenger will taste it; necessary medicines in flight (at presence of the recipe); small volumes of other liquids in capacities no more than 100 ml, which are being the closed in transparent package, of approximately 20х20 centimeters size.
These norms are also spread on the passengers, having a change in these countries. Restrictions do not extend on liquids and the drinks got in Duty Free shops in a zone of a start of the local airports.
Similar measures have been entered in the Europe and Northern America after in August, 2006 special British security services have declared about the disclosure of the plot assumed explosion of planes in air by means of a liquid explosive mix. Originally any hand luggage has been completely forbidden in the UK and then the rules have been softened. Besides the countries of the European Union, the USA and Canada, these rules are being applied by some other countries in different parts of the world.

The list of the safest airlines
The German center of the analysis of the information on accidents of jet liners (JACDEC) has published a rating of safety of 50 largest airlines of the world. The rating is made considering the quantity of air crashes, the general volume of passenger traffic and companie’s operation time in the market.
Australian Quantas Airline Company, based in 1922, and Finnish Finnair compamy, working since 1923 are among the safest companies, which had no accidents for ther long-term history. Thses are the two oldest air carriers of the air services market. As a whole, according to JACDEC, all in the world there are 22 airlines which planes have never got into extreme situations.
Hong Kong Cathay Pacific, appeared on the market of passenger aviatransportations in 194 has been recognized as the best airline of the world of 2006. The other largest international carriers, which have received 0 penal points for safety the maximal estimation, are the Japanese All Nippon Airways, British Virgin Atlantic Airways, Ryanair, Arabian Emirates, Thai EVA Air, Quatar Airways, British EasyJet. JetBlue is the only US Company, which managed to receive the maximum point.
Half of airlines with faultless reputation is made with air carriers of the German-speaking countries. Among the airlines recognized by one most safe in the world, are such German companies, as:

Air Berlin,
DBA,
Germanwings,
Eurowings,
Hamburg International,
Helvetic Airways,
Hapag-Lloyd Express,
Bluewings,
Edelweiss Air and
Niki.
Thus one of the world largest airlines -Lufthansa -has received the 0,05 estimation for safety. It can be explained by the fact that on November, 20th, 1974, there was an accident of Lufthansa plane (in which 64 persons have died) at the airport of Nairobi. The same estimation for safety was given to Air Canada and Austrian group AUA companies.
The list of 50 largest airlines is finishing with Turkish Airlines, Brazilian TAM, Air India and Taiwan China Airlines.
US Airways and Russian “Aeroflot” were brought to the “doubtful” group in view of safety. Philippine Airlines, Korean Air and American Airlines (these companies had about 10 air crashes since 1973) have also got doubtful reputation.
JACDEC database contains only the main airlines. Regional and charter carriers have not been included into the research.
