All Italy can be crossed by train for 5 hours in three years

Almost in three years it will be possible to cross all Italy by train for 5 hours. Such announcement has been made today by the chief of the Italian railways (Ferrovie dello Stato) Mauro Moretti.
Moretti said that now the project of high-speed railways is realized only by half: the high-speed train connects Naples and Rome, Rome and Florence, and also Turin and Novara. But by December, 2009 it is planned to finish works on the high-speed branch line, connecting Milan with Bologna and Bologna with Florence, a branch from Turin up to Milan and then the road from Rome to Milan is to take only three hours instead of the present four hours, and the road from Naples to Turin will take only five “superfluous” hours.
Moretti has added that the high-speed railway network of 634 kilometers general length will connect about 80 % of the biggest cities of the country.
As the chief of the Italian railways has explained, the special attention is given a site between Rome and Milan: it connects the administrative and business capitals of the country, and many thousand passengers move on this route.
Earlier many Italians preferred to do such trips by the plane; however with introduction of new high-speed trains more and more travelers make a choice in favor of the railway.
Other architectural star - Zaha Hadid - will build new station in Naples under name Afragola (Napoli Afragola). Works have already started working in July, 2006, and the new Neapolitan station is to be built up to next year. In parallel major overhaul with reconstruction is spent at old central station of Naples. From last autumn the central station (Stazione Centrale) in Milan is being reconstructed. These works are to be ended by 2008.

Emerald Island (Part 2)

Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland. This charming city is situated in a district of mountains and rivers. We recommend you to visit Belfast Castle (built in 1879) and City Hall, known for copper dome and sculptured pediment.
Limerick is also the especial place of interest. Now this 800-year-old castle of King John is transformed into a museum.
If you are going to Dublin, you should search informative sign with the word Dublin or Bale-aha-Kliah, as it refers to in Irish style. The old part of city is especially interesting to travelers. It is insignificant, but you can find a lot of curious objects there.
Newcastle is a small seaside resort. It is known for the Golf Course and Dandrum Castle, built in the 12th century and becoming a famous historical museum due to its protogenic status.
The main temple of the Irish Catholics - sacred Patrick’s magnificent Cathedral - is well-known for the bells, stained-glass windows and church clock. This saint place is famous by the fact that since 1713 till 1745 Jonathan Swift was the prior of the Cathedral.
All travelers, irrespective of predilections, admire well-known “Dublin doors”: bright colors, carved jambs, a stucco molding, and any door it is not similar to another. Such variety has arisen after the rich Englishmen in XVIII century have built heap and absolutely similar houses in the Irish capital. The poetic Irish soul was indignant and has tried though partially to win monotony.
And still Dublin is the piers, breakwaters, the fishing uniforms, a smell of fried cods, reaching from restaurant windows, ferries, arriving from Liverpool. Here you will infrequently meet the bright-red person.
But all Ireland is also an island, so, it means the sea: Atlantic Ocean -in the West, Irish sea-in the east, besides, and on the island is set of lakes and the rivers. Also it would be strange, if Irish were not inveterate fishers.

Emerald Island (Part 1)

If somewhere also there is a fantastic emerald country, it is, certainly, Ireland. It is difficult to say, who exactly has painted it in emerald color (whether great and awful Goodwin, whether local house painters in a green special clothes, whether the nature-mother, whether all together), but only other tones in the Irish palette are not almost met.
The green trees twisted by ivy, and the same green ivy on cable columns and walls of ancient buildings. Green planes of national companies Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta. Green post cars for cleaning dust; green school uniform and road workers in green waistcoats; a heap of green souvenirs in each booth. And at last, infinite green pastures with unimaginable quantity (no, all the same not green) of sheeps and cows.
It is possible so state that this country has only spring, and winters do not practically happen. Summer is usually not hot. Short rains during sunshine obligatory finish with rainbow. The climate is soft because of warm current Gulf Stream, and the year is always “green” in the valleys protected from winds, and laurels, rhododendrons, oaks, the Mediterranean tree strawberry and even palm trees grow along the road. In Dublin it is possible to see a blossoming tree even in December-January. Sometimes you may fell that you are in Israel, but not in the UK…
It is said that green color calms and it is exclusively good for nervous system. Looking at Irish, it is easy to believe in this: they do not spoil to them and other people’s nerves on trifles and, apparently, almost they always stay in good mood.
How to travel across Ireland
Ireland is such country in which it is better to travel by car. Bus and railways are not so developed; therefore you can’t manage without the car. Problems with service are not present, in each city, as well as everywhere in the Europe, you can find the centers of the tourist information where it is possible to get cards and any necessary data. And don’t forget about the Irish! They are very kind and everyone will try to help you.

Feeling of national consciousness of the British (Part 2)

The feeling of national consciousness until recently existed only in the cultural environment, and, in general, British government has been recognized by all four people, except for a small amount of inhabitants of Northern Ireland. However, in 60-70th years the nationalism has got over in a policy in Scotland and in the Wales. Appeals to independence of these two countries of England have led to the beginning of creation of own parliament in the Wales and transfer of greater powers and freedom of actions to the Scottish parliament. The requirements to decentralize economy inside of the England reflect its regional distinctions. As Englishmen as the nation are rather diverse, their customs, accents and behavior are also considerably different. The inhabitants of northern England, for example, consider them better than their southern neighbors, and on the contrary. Inhabitants of different counties and districts keep fidelity to their environment that is often expressed in sports, the politician, competitions, cultural actions and style of their life.

In Wales there are also distinctions between the inhabitants of the industrial south and the basically agricultural north, between the wests which inhabitants speak Welsh language, and the English-speaking east and a southwest. And still, the majority of the Welsh precisely allocate them as the separate nation which is distinct from Englishmen. Their national and cultural uniqueness takes roots in their history, literature, the Welsh language which speaks 26 % of the population, sports and national festivals. It is also reflected in close communication between industrial and agricultural societies and supported by political, religious and public distinctions between two people. Today the Welsh struggle against the replacement of their culture and language with English equivalents, opposing with uniqueness of people of political authority of London.

Similarly Scots are united, protecting the nation and culture, because of historically developed hostility to Englishmen. Scots honor their traditions which are reflected in local festivals and differing from English legislative, religious and educational systems. Scots are dissatisfied with the fact that all political authority is concentrated in London that the government does not develop the economy of Scotland (though to Scotland it is put more than budgetary money, than to England or the Wales). More than 30 % of Scots want political separation from England. Thus, it is possible to make a conclusion, that modern British is a mixed and non-uniform people whose “distinctionsare aggravated with emigrants and their cultures. Accordingly, the problem of identifying of a term “Englishman”, the Welsh, the Scot or the Irish who would approach under all the stereotypes connected with “the typical British”, becomes very difficult, if not impossible.
