To increase tourism-to struggle with poverty!-a new information from the World organization of tourism

The World organization of tourism has told on January, 3rd, that 2007 is a high time to consolidate tourism as the key factor in struggle against poverty. The General Secretary of the World organization of tourism has called for updating the attempts to include tourism into the agenda of the international development as the key tool for the achievement of the Purposes of Development (established by The United Nations Organization). The General Secretary has determined five main areas for the incorporated global actions:
1. It is necessary for the industrialized countries to develop a strategy of development and the agreement which would inspire tourism in the poorest and recently appearing states, as it would improve their economy, social development and mutual understanding.
2. For the least developed states it is necessary to estimate the together influence and potential of tourism on their economy and to integrate these countries into a national system of the account and to set the program of poverty reduction.
3. For all states: to increase obligations on tourism and to provide special opportunities, to help the poorest countries to use tourism for struggle against poverty.
4 It is important for the international banks, regional banks of development to place tourism among priorities for an infrastructure and enterprise support.
5. It is important for the public sector, private sector, nongovernmental organizations and tourists to follow the purposes of development of a Millennium and to adhere to the Global code of ethics of the WTO.
The General Secretary said that the Organization will strengthen the work to support tourism, to advance the global purposes of the Millennium and the global code of ethics of the WTO.
